DIY Light Up Specimen Jars
Welcome back Tribe! Get ready to add some spooky charm to your Halloween setup with a super fun and easy project: Light up Specimen Jars. Whether you’re a seasoned DIYer or just dipping your toes into the spooky crafting waters, this ghostly decoration is perfect for creating a hauntingly good atmosphere. - Mason Jars [Link to Amazon]
- Creepy Crawlers [Link to Amazon]
- Waterproof submersible lights [Link to Amazon]
- Hot Glue Gun [Link to Amazon]
- Highlighters -. [Link to Amazon]
- Scissors
- Water
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1: Assign Creepy Crawlers to Mason Jars
- Play with the positioning of the creepy crawlers and determine which ones will go where. If you are using multiple creepy crawlers – you can use floral wire or twist ties to help secure them in the position you desire.
Step 2: Hot glue light onto the top of each lid
- Use your hot glue gun to secure 1 submersible light to the inside-top of each mason jar lid.
- Tip: If you find yourself struggling to get the lights to stay glued to the lid- you can cut a piece of cardboard to the same shape as the mason jar lid & secure the light to the cardboard rather than the waxed mason jar lid.
Step 3: Fill Mason Jars with water
- Fill each mason jar to the top with water.
Step 4: Coloring the Water
Pull the bottom cap of the highlighters off & pull out the ink tube and cut in half. You will want to use half of one highlighter per mason jar. Next, dip & squeeze the highlighter ink into the mason jar water, repeatedly, until you are satisfied with the color intensity.
Step 5: Secure the Lids
Secure the lids with the LED lights ON & you’re done!
